Committees

UPhA Committees

Legislative Committee:

The Legislative Committee is focused around the legislative session and rules and laws effecting pharmacy in Utah. The committee meets weekly (virtual/conference call) during the legislative session. They provide feedback along with our Board of Directors to current legislation being discussed. The legislative session begins on the Tuesday following Martin Luther King Day (Civil Rights Day) and continues for 45 days until approximately the first week of March. Members of the committee must be a member of UPhA. 

Student Relations Committee

The Student Relations Committee is focused on projects or event that work with our two local pharmacy schools at the University of Utah and Roseman University. A main focus of the committee is the annual Pharmacy Day on Capitol Hill event, which usually takes place during the month of February. Majority of meetings are during the fall and first few weeks of the year. The Pharmacy Day at Capitol Hill event held at the State Capitol includes poster presentations by students, health screenings, and discussions and visits with legislators. Members of the committee must be a member of UPhA and/or a student or faculty at one of the local pharmacy schools. 

Ambulatory Care Committee

The primary goals of this committee include ensuring a voice for ambulatory care within UPhA, networking opportunities, and source for ambulatory care pharmacists across the state. You are not required to be a UPhA member to join the committee. Committee members will meet quarterly, with additional meetings as needed throughout the year.

Cannabis Pharmacy Committee

The primary goals of this committee include ensuring a voice for cannabis pharmacies with UPhA and Utah, providing networking opportunities for cannabis pharmacies. There is not a requirement to be a UPhA member to join the committee. The committee meets 3-4 times a year, with additional meetings as necessary.  

Annual Convention Committee

The primary goals of this committee include ensuring that proper education topics and speakers for the Annual Convention are selected that will provide proper benefit and education information to the members of UPhA. Assignments also include planning additional parts of the Annual Convention, including entertainment, keynote speakers, and special events that may occur at the convention. Members of the committee need to be a member of UPhA. 

Mid-Year Meeting Committee

The primary goals of this committee include ensuring that proper education topics and speakers for the Mid-Year Meeting are selected that will provide proper benefit and education information to the members of UPhA. Members of the committee need to be a member of UPhA.
