PHARMACY ALERT

Wednesday, February 2, 2022   (0 Comments)
Attention:

DOPL has received multiple calls from Utah based pharmacies stating they have received a telephone call from someone identifying themselves as someone “from the Utah Board of Pharmacy”.  The person says they are working on a system update and need certain information.

The information they have requested has been addresses, DEA numbers, names of pharmacists etc.  The caller ID number has been ‘spoofed’ to show it is from the Utah State Government.  The name the caller has given is not anyone from DOPL or from the Utah Board of Pharmacy.

Please be aware that no member from the Utah Board of Pharmacy would ever call requesting this information.  Additionally if someone from DOPL ever did call, the best response would be to call DOPL Bureau of Investigation back at (801) 530-6630 to verify the telephone call is legitimate.

Please Verify Controlled Substances with the Provider.

Please do not conclude that by providing you with this information the Division has made any determinations about the propriety of the individual’s drug use or any practitioners prescribing.  If you were not aware the patient was receiving controlled substance prescriptions from other Pharmacies and if this information is not consistent with the patient’s records, you may want to contact your local Police Department.

Sincerely,
