Objectives:  Discuss the necessary steps to take in order to fill prescriptions obtained electronically, discuss what is required to fill
"multiple" prescriptions for Schedule II controlled substances, examine what the Federal Law means by a corresponding liability,
and discuss what behaviors and methods drug seekers may display when seeking controlled substances, and
the expected responsibility of the pharmacy staff when this situation arises.

Objectives: Discuss acceptable direction for Health Care Reform to go in Utah, examine how pharmacy is an important part of the delivery

District 1, District 2, & District 3 candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives

Objectives:  Discuss the impact of ObamaCare on Community Pharmacy, and national bills affecting the profession such as the
 recently passed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, P.L. 111-148.  Discuss pending legislation such as
 The PBM Audit Reform and Transparency Act  of 2010: (H.R. 5234), and the DME Competitive Bidding: (H.R. 5235)

the Medicare Access to Diabetes Supplies Act.  Discuss how regulatory issues
such as Medicaid Reimbursement affect small business.

2:00 p.m.  Creating a Health Exchange: Utah's Experience

expands access, encourages individual responsibility, increases affordability, offer higher quality and promote improved

3:30 p.m.  Improving the Quality of Care through Pharmacists?
Use of a State-Wide Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE) Network

Objectives: Discuss the concept of a state-wide health information exchange network; give a high level overview of how it works
and the privacy /security measures that it utilizes.  Demonstrate how pharmacists can, with patient consent, access critical clinical
information about  their patients and use that information to improve the efficiency of their operations and the quality of care.
Examine the Patient Consent Model that will be used in Utah and review how pharmacists can help patients
be comfortable deciding to participate in the cHIE.

4:30 p.m.   Legislative and Regulatory Update of Pharmacy Practice

Objectives:  Discuss and understand new changes in the Pharmacy Practice Act and Controlled Substance Act from the Utah Legislature
2010 General Session, as well as the Pharmacy Practice Act Rules and Controlled Substance Rules, explore common non-compliance
issues regarding the practice of Pharmacy, Discuss the investigation process and potential causes of action taken by DOPL.
